The Rugby & District Talking Newspaper for the Blind is totally dependent upon the goodwill and hard work of our team of volunteers.
There are many different activities within the organisation to suit volunteers with different skills or different amounts of time they are able to donate.
This team is responsible for collecting the returned cassette tapes from the Royal Mail Sorting Office and then prepare the tapes for reuse by electronically cleaning and rewinding them.
Readers & Technicians
We have eight teams of three readers and one technician. Each team reads approximately once every two months. The readers read in sequence to allow them to prepare for the next story whilst the technician manages the equipment and ensures that we produce a good quality recording.
The Editor collates news from the local newspapers and prepares it for the readers
The Despatchers are members of the Rotary Club and Rugby Lions who make the 150 copies of the Talking Newspaper each Thursday morning and send them to the Royal Mail for distribution.
