The first Talking Newspaper was established in Aberystwyth in 1969 with the first deployment of 20 cassette tapes taking place on 1st January 1970.
Today, the Talking Newspaper boasts over 500 groups across the UK providing news and information to thousands of blind and partially sighted people.
The Rugby & District Talking Newspaper was founded in 1977 by the Rotary Club. Later on, the organisation was boosted by the support of the Rugby Lions. Today, the Talking Newspaper is run by a collection of volunteers but is still fortunate to enjoy the support of both the Rotary and Rugby Lions Clubs.
The Talking Newspaper has recently relocated from the old Rugby College site on Clifton Road/Lower Hillmorton Road to a new office at 42 Hillmorton Road.
